Frequently Asked Questions
What is PMI and ACP?

PMI: The Project Management Institute (PMI) is a global organization that offers certifications, standards, and resources for project management professionals.

ACP: Agile Certified Practitioner (ACP) is a certification from PMI that validates a professional’s expertise in using agile practices in project management.

Should I get booth PMP and PMI-ACP?

It depends on your career goals and the methodologies you use in project management.

  • PMP (Project Management Professional): Ideal if you want a broad, globally recognized certification that covers various project management methodologies, not just agile.

  • PMI-ACP (Agile Certified Practitioner): Best for professionals who primarily work with agile methodologies. It’s a specialized certification that shows your expertise in agile practices.

If you work across various project management methodologies or aim to do so, getting both certifications can be valuable. However, if you specialize in either traditional or agile project management exclusively, you might choose the certification that aligns best with your specialization.

How much does PMI-ACP cost?

The cost of the PMI-ACP (Agile Certified Practitioner) certification varies depending on your membership status with the Project Management Institute (PMI).

  • For PMI Members: The exam fee is usually lower for PMI members. As of my last update, it was around $348.00
  • For Non-Members: Non-members pay a higher fee, which was about $396.00

It’s important to note that these prices are subject to change, and it’s always a good idea to check the latest fees on the PMI website.

Can I do PMI-ACP without PMP?

Yes, you can obtain the PMI-ACP (Agile Certified Practitioner) certification without having the PMP (Project Management Professional) certification. They are independent certifications with different prerequisites, and the PMI-ACP is specifically focused on agile project management.
